KENTUCKY DERBY WINNER – JACINTO VASQUEZ
Introduction:
Numerous thoroughbred jockeys have participated in the Kentucky derby in the United States. One amongst them is Jacinto Vasquez. He was born in the year 1944, in the Central American nation of Panama. Presently, Jacinto Vasquez has retired thoroughbred Hall of Fame. Jacinto also went on to win a couple of Kentucky Derby. One amongst them is the Genuine Risk in the year 1980 and the other being the Foolish Pleasure in the year 1975. Mostly, Jacinto is well known for “Ruffian”.

At the age of 15, Jacinto started to work at a Presidente Remon Racetrack in the Central American nation of Panama. In addition, Jacinto became one amongst the leading apprentice rider prior to his shifting in the United States, in the year 1960. For most of his career, Jacinto was established in the city of New York. In addition, Jacinto frequently used to ride the Calder Race Course in the city of Florida. Vasquez was the only horse jockey in the year 1973 to beat the Secretariat twice. Vasquez was the only jockey in the Triple Tiara winner Ruffian and the Foolish Pleasure of Kentucky Derby, in the year 1975. In the horse race which occurred on the 6th of July, 1975, Jacinto Vasquez preferred the Ruffian for Foolish pleasure. He gave the Foolish pleasure to Braulio Baeza. The year 1984, witnessed the suspension of Jacinto Vasquez for a period of one year owing to the attempt to bribe another jockey. This charge was denied by Jacinto. It took nearly 10 years for the court proceedings and hearings to look into the case of Jacinto. |
