KENTUCKY DERBY WINNER – KENT J DESORMEAUX
Introduction:
One amongst the numerous horse jockeys who participated in the Kentucky Derby is Kent J Desormeaux. He was born on the 27th of February, 1970 in the town of Vermilion Parish in the state of Louisiana. He is a hall of fame horse jockey from the thoroughbred racing of America, who holds the American record for the maximum number of races that a person has won in a particular year. Desormeaux originally belongs to the family of Cajuns. Subsequently, Kent was born and raised in a farm. It was here that Kent learned the art of horse riding, when he was very young. Initially, Kent participated in the American Quarter Horses. After sometime, Kent began to work at Evangeline Downs as an apprentice jockey in the city of Lafayette, in the state of Louisiana.
Miscellaneous:
The instant success of Kent made him shift to the north for competing in the racing circuit of Maryland in the year 1987. It was this performance which got him the Eclipse award for Outstanding Apprentice Jockey. In his initial three races which he participated in Maryland, Kent went on to win the maximum number of races as compared to other horse jockeys. Kent is one amongst the four jockeys, who has won the national titles as much as three times successively. Not only this, Kent went on to win the Eclipse Award in both overall as well as apprentice categories. In the year 1989, Desmoreaux set a record for the maximum number of wins in particular, with his wins numbering 598. At the beginning of the 90’s, Kent shifted to the southern part of California.
