KENTUCKY DERBY WINNER – STEWART ELLIOT
Introduction:
Numerous horse racing jockeys have graced the Kentucky Derby racing event. One amongst them is Stewart Elliot. He was born on the 1st March, 1965 in the city of Toronto in Canada. Stewart Elliot is a Canadian thoroughbred race horse jockey. Steve Elliot had his beginnings when he pursued horse racing. Stewart Elliot’s father was also a well known horse jockey. Even his mother had interest in horse racing events. Apart from this, even Elliot’s uncle owns a horse racing stable in Canada. Elliot was raised in the United States. He began to embark on the professional horse riding since he attained the age of 16 years. He mainly used to race at a small suburban race track, named the Philadelphia Park Racetrack in the city of Philadelphia, in Pennsylvania.

Although, Stewart Elliot did not possess any qualities which would be outstanding to a Horse racing jockey, he was a hard worker. Apart from that, Stewart Elliot became the most successful jockey of the race track for numerous years. This was evident from his past racing record. Stewart Elliot made a new record when he rode his 3000 career winner. Stewart Elliot was the first jockey in a quarter century to have won the Kentucky Derby with his first appearance. Smarty Jones remained the unbeaten winner of the Derby when Seattle Slew won in the year 1977. This was the highest amount which was paid for any jockey in the history of horse racing. |
